Hello, I’m Belinda Seto. I’m the deputy director
of the National Eye Institute. Today I’m the host of the first annual NEI Combined Federal
Campaign telethon. So let me tell you a little bit about the CFC, if you’re not familiar
with it. It is the largest workplace giving campaign in the world with more than 20,000
charitable organizations. And I am sure you’re going to find one of them that fits your desire
to give. So choosing one, however, can be overwhelming because there’s so much information.
So please call and we’ll answer your questions. And I think the phone is ringing now. Ah,
here’s a good question. Can I give to small, local charities? Of course, with the CFC you
can give to many national charities as well as to small, local charities of your interest.
Okay, hang on one second. A caller would like to know if he can donate an eye. Ah, here’s
another great question. CFC accepts only monetary donations, but no amount is too small. You
make a real difference in someone’s life by even donating one dollar per pay period. That’s
all one dollar every two weeks. So, call now. Hey, did anyone order a pepperoni with extra
cheese? Oh, it wasn’t me, but we are looking for dough. Go online now and see how easy
it is to donate through a one time pledge or through payroll deduction. The first 10
callers will enter into a very exciting raffle and have a chance to win one of the fabulous
prizes donated by NEI staff. Hello. NEI CFC telethon. Dr. Seto, it’s for you. Yes. Hello
sir. Thanks for reminding me. By the way, a certain someone reminded me that all CFC
donations are tax deductible. So giving now could ease your tax burden for 2016. Well,
we’re coming down to the final minutes of the CFC telethon and the phones are still
ringing off the hook. If you haven’t been able to get through. Go online at CFC.NIH.GOV.
