I’m 63 years old and 7 years ago I had a stroke. I couldnt move my left side. The medicine, helped but made hearing both ears, bad. I have severe hearing loss. I’m hard of hearing. The communication being lost it’s like your life is is finished. You can’t talk with people you can’t sign with people. You’re isolated. That that makes me different from other people. if I’m left out at the deaf community and left out of the hearing community. I’m isolated. The time it takes to to say again and again and again and to be patient… I understand (its hard) but they don’t know we all need communication. The old, the young, babies. There’s a hearing culture and deaf culture but you need to remember people culture. I started learning ASL 15 months ago so I’m new. I was watching youtube and i know a song by Bruno Mars and and there was a lady who was who was singing using sign language and she’d lived in Hawaii though I started looking to find her and she’s a teacher and I emailed her and signed up for a class to start learning sign language. If you have a facebook look look you’ll find a different places on Facebook communities that you can join and that will help you learn more and more more. When I started I would say my name h-a-r-ve-y and then let’s say oh nice to meet you my name is alsdjfasokafj. I don’t know your name! I say to other people who are hard of hearing now or suddenly their deaf don’t give up don’t don’t give up always try try try try just continue you know that way and and soon you’ll you learned more and more and more you’ll feel more comfortable without sign language year after year I felt more more isolated.
