You know brushing is important to keep your
teeth healthy, but what do you do to keep your eyes clean? I’m Miranda Savioli with
your latest health news. A new CDC report found nearly one million
Americans sought medical care in 2010 for keratitis, an infection of the cornea. The
cornea is the outermost layer of the eye; if it becomes infected, it can cause pain,
swelling, and, if severe, blindness. The authors noted most cases were in people who wore their
contact lenses for too long or did not care for them properly. To reduce your risk, keep contacts clean,
free of water, and stored in clean cases.
