Last year we gave the GT top water enthusiasts a ridiculously tough 17cm X-Rap Magnum Xplode. And now Rapala has brought that same explosive top water action into a new category with this 13cm model. These lures have through-wire construction, exceptionally strong hooks, enormous splash in the cup face which draws the fish up from the depths, and the stability of the lure makes it ideal even in rough water due to that slightly angled-down face on the lure that pulls it back into the water and keeps it where the fish are, from whitewater to head lands and anywhere in between… The thing I really love about this lure is first of all… size. In the water, this guy has a big pop, big bubble trail – it gives the impression of a much bigger bait fish, but when it pauses, any predator sees it and goes that’s just a snack and they just come and eat it. It’s ideal to be fished on PE 3 to 5 popping tackle. Nice light gear that you can throw all day, and I can tell you now, I can see this being a great lure on everything from barramundi here in Australia to all of your tuna and mackerel species, and of course kingfish. They’re gonna struggle to pass this guy up. And the other one, just what it’s built for, all of those trevally – and I don’t think it’s going to matter whether it’s a 2kg or 40kg GT, they are going to absolutely love this new 13cm X-Rap Magnum Xplode. Topwater popping is one of the most visually exciting forms of fishing, and without the X-Rap Magnum Xplode, you’re going to be working way too hard for your fish.
