Dr. Urban here. I’m beginning a series on
oxygenation, a big word which really means how well you bring oxygen to your
cells, all the cells in your body, be it brain cells, be it pathological states
like Alzheimer’s, be it running with oxygen lack and on it goes. Oxygenation is a
big deal and many diseases are related and can be addressed in part with better
oxygenation. In fact, I came to this subject, because I’ve known for some time, actually a Nobel Prize was given which led to the finding that oxygen and rich environments are
detrimental to cancer. Cancer cells can’t survive in an oxygen environment.
so it behooves me to try to find out, on the journey, how do we get more oxygen
into our cells? The fancy word is oxygenation. The first step is breathing,
because we all breathe. Are we doing it right? I’m going to suggest to you that many
of you are not or that there are better ways to breathe. We will cover areas like sleep
and eating, position during sleeping in and on it goes. and these are things
you can do because if you’re going to do, do it right. You might try to do as many as you can right or use the best practices starting now. I won’t overload you. Now I’m going give you two suggestions. First of all, we need
to know if you can nose breathe. To do that, it’s called the 2 minute test.
Get your watch. Close your mouth and breathe normally
and if you can do that for two minutes, without any air hunger, you’ll know if
there’s a problem. No problem, then you know you can nose breathe and what I say subsequently
applies to you. if you can’t breathe without some issues or not at all, then
you have something that needs to be addressed. It might be something as simple as a cold or chronic rhinitis, that is,
swelling in the nasal passages. In the the next video I will address that, so you
need to find out if you can nose breathe. The second takeaway or action step is to
practice nose breathing. The first step is to close your mouth and breathe
normally as much as you can. When you exercise, nose breathe.
Nose breathe while you do physical activity. You get the picture.
every chance you get. Nose breathe. That’s gonna be a good thing. In the description below
each video will be a list of videos, descriptions, tags or blog links that
will be identified. They’ll take you to further discussions That’s it for now. Get started nose breathing. Find out if you can. Be a nose breather and then start consciously
thinking about whether or not you can increase your no nose breathing
simply by closing your mouth. Let’s get started.
