You can, and it is one of those things that
it’s exceedingly rare. We’ve never had it happen, but I mean, in
a theoretical sense, if you get an infection and the infection is bad enough, you can. But nowadays, with the modern generation antibiotics and the close post-op care that one receives, it’s almost unheard of. Theoretically speaking, sure. I mean, you can go blind from contact lens wear. Nothing-related trauma can cause that, or you get an infection in the eye that doesn’t get treated properly—that can happen. And so, in a theoretical case, yeah. Have I ever seen it? No. You can go blind from LASIK. It has happened in this town. It’s never happened here, and it’s only
happened under circumstances where people were cutting corners, trying to make money more than trying to save sight and trying to be safe. And, it’s almost always occurred when people use cheap equipment or poorly-maintained equipment, and did something that they would never do to themselves or their own family. So, the answer is: Yes, you could, but you’re not going to go blind here.
